Strianese San Marzano Peeled Plum DOP Tomatoes have earned a protected designation of origin status (that's the DOP) from the European Union. This is one of the highest certifications in the world of food production, and it speaks to the impressive quality of these peeled tomatoes.
The tomatoes themselves have a beautiful bright red colour and a balanced sweet, slightly sour taste. The firm flesh and low quantity of seeds in this tomato variety makes it an ideal ingredient in pizza sauce, which is how they became the standard for Neapolitan pizza according to the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana.
