Introducing Ooni Groceries
Water, flour, yeast, salt, and a few toppings respectfully handled and lovingly cooked — that’s all it takes to make a standout pie. Pizza is, at its heart, a humble food. But because of how integral they are, each of these components does need to be great.
We took this idea to heart when we launched Ooni Groceries, a line of select ingredients for every step of the pizza-making process, that can be ordered on ooni.com and delivered right to your door. From the basics, like flour, to the extra special finishing touches, like truffle oil, we made sure everything we offer is of the highest quality. Our internal team, the Groceries Culinary Council, tested ingredients from around the world, arriving at this refined list of necessities. It was important that the ingredients we offered represented the place where pizza originated, so much of what you’ll find in our shop is Italian in origin. That said, we didn’t limit ourselves. When we found Properoni, a pepperoni out of Hungary that was just right, we didn’t hesitate to bring it aboard.
Our current offerings were chosen to take you through every step of the pizza-making process.
It’s no secret that the base of any good pizza is the dough. If you don’t have the time to make your own, we make and freeze high-quality sourdough dough balls and gluten-free dough balls designed for use in our ovens.
Our flour comes from Caputo, an Italian company that has been milling for almost one hundred years. Their focus on quality is what drew us to them. They use a slow grinding process, milling just wheat, with no additives or enzymes. Depending on what kind of pizza you’re making, the kind of flour you’ll need changes and with that in mind, we offer a range of flours. For example, Caputo Pizzeria Flour is great for a slow rise Neapolitan, while Caputo Red Flour is an excellent choice for New York and Detroit-style pizzas.
We love the quality (picked at peak seasonality) and simplicity of canned tomatoes. The peeled, San Marzano plum tomatoes we offer are the standard according to the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (the authority on all things Neapolitan pizza). If you don’t want to start from scratch, Mutti Pizza Sauce is great for high heat cooking with just a hint of basil and oregano. Perfezione!
Though our toppings selection is small, it’s purposeful. For our cow’s milk mozzarella, we chose Latticini Orchidea Fior Di Latte, a delicate, semi-soft that comes directly from Italy. As an alternative to dairy, we offer Vegan Mozarisella Cheese, which is plant-based and made from sprouted brown rice.
Sap Nduja and Properoni Pepperoni (both sliced and unsliced) were our favourite meaty additions—they’re both deliciously spiced and expertly cured. And if you’re looking for something out of the box, Haynes Candied Jalapenos hit just the right note of sweet and spicy.
We chose oils made in Italy and infused with classic flavours: garlic and chilli, chilli, and truffle. A spiral of oil, balsamic vinegar glaze, or hot honey is a really quick and simple way to level up your pizza once you’ve taken it out of the oven.
We built our shop to feel like you’d stumbled upon a great little market tucked away in a small corner of an Italian town. But with our online site, you won’t have to travel. Simply order online and everything will be delivered directly to you so you can make great pizza right in your own backyard.
